New Orleans braces for ‘Super Gras’ with record crowds expected for Super Bowl and Mardi Gras

New Orleans is gearing up for what they are calling “Super Gras”.  Due to the record number of people in town for Mardi Gras and then on top of that the people arriving for the Super Bowl is making for an extremely large and crazy party.  The Mardi Gras parades will not be held in the downtown area during the Super Bowl weekend, however there will be plenty of floats and parades leading up to the event as well as after the game.

They are estimating upwards of 150,000 people will be in town and the surrounding areas for Super Bowl weekend.  They also estimate over a million will visit the New Orleans area in the weeks prior to the big game.

Its sure to be a great season for the vendors and surrounding business.  After everything this city has gone through, the next few weeks will surely be a blessing. Have a fun and safe Mardi Gras, and if your lucky enough to be attending the game, I hope its a good one.

French Quarter street improvements completed right before Mardi Gras.

Just in time for Mardi Gras the state of Louisiana in the city of New Orleans just completed and $11.3 million dollar sidewalk and street renovation. There were a total of eight different streets that receive new pavement, curbs and sidewalks. The city also plans to build some additional pedestrian safety islands.

This year the party should start out nice and clean, less just see how long it takes for that to change. For everyone who plans on attending Mardi Gras, have fun and be safe.

Below is an article that was posted in the Sun Herald.

Moonlight Mardi Gras: Party New Orleans style to benefit the Heritage Center

This time year seems like no matter where you go someone, somewhere your going to find a New Orleans Mardi Gras’s party. Some of these parties can be quite extravagant. Details such as the beads, masks, bright colored streamers and King cakes make up a truly authentic Mardi Gras style party.

Here is a company down in Vero Beach Florida that is throwing a moonlight Mardi Gras’s party to benefit the Heritage Center. Tickets starting at $75 per person and does not include drinks. This is for a great cause and I’m sure it will raise some nice funds for the Heritage Center.  Good luck and enjoy the party!

WWLTV presents Mardi Gras Parade Tracker app | New Orleans

Just wanted to let everyone know about a new app that does real time Mardi Gras parade tracking. It’s available over on the WWLTV website. The app is available for iPhone/iPad and android.

They state that their app covers more parades in more areas of the city than any other app available on the smart phone market. They actually deploy teams of employees that are constantly updating and tracking the parade’s location as well as start and finish times.

So if you’re in the area, and you plan on attending a Mardi Gras parade you might want to pick up this app.

Here’s the link and location of the act as well as more details on how it works and where to get it.
